Welcome to Creative Art Journeys
Creative Art Journey workshops are taught by Karen Simkiss and Debra Brewster. Art Classes are designed for the experienced as well as novice artist. Classes are taught in different locations in the Colorado Springs area. We offer workshops in Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Mixed Media and Crafts. These classes often combine different media in 2D and/or 3D formats. Our classes are designed to develop the creative inner artist in every student so they can make their own unique artwork.
In the area of Drawing, we offer classes in different black and white media from graphite to charcoal. We also offer classes in color media to include pastels, colored pencils, and crayon.
Painting classes include a variety of watercolor, tempera and acrylic techniques. We also offer a class in spray paint stenciling.
Our mixed media classes can be tailored to fit many needs. These classes include two dimensional and three dimensional techniques in mixed media collage, scrapbooking, altered books, and beaded objects.
Workshops in printmaking include processes in solar etching, linoleum, and woodcuts. Monoprinting includes clay, gelatin, watercolor, tempera, and oil based ink prints. Along with these traditional print classes, we offer simple stamping techniques.
Photography classes, both darkroom and digital, can be designed with a class size limit of 5 students.
Craft classes range from ceramics, jewelry, glass fusing, bookmaking, papermaking, fiber and fabric arts.
Workshops can be designed to your specific needs or interests. We can schedule for individuals or a group event with your friends. We schedule classes throughout the year and on weekends. Summer schedules (June - August) can include weekdays. With all workshops and classes you will come away with a completed artwork or project and techniques that will inspire you on your personal creative art journey.
